Artist in Residence Exhibition at the Textile Arts Center

Installation view

I was finally able to get some photos of the exhibition up online. The week of the opening was my last week of the residency at TAC and that meant i had to move my studio back home on the week end. I was able to take photos of my work and move my studio all in one day. It wasn't easy as we've had a couple of really hot days lately and getting organized has been a challenge.

Installation view

Here's a photo of all the pieces together. My work is quite small so this little corner was perfect for it.

Pollination detail Detail of Pollination.

Metamorphosis detail Detail of Metamorphosis.

Lepidoptera detail Detail of Lepidoptera.

You can see more detail photos on my flickr page or on my portfolio.

Time indeed well spent. I adore pollination, although all the works are fabulous. Accomplished, individual, well thought out and executed. I love the tiny scale of them. I find it frustrating that the Western Art World is so obsessed with LARGE works. Everyone wants large canvasses, huge installations and the like. I love these too, but I await the day when miniature and small art works are as revered in the West as they are in the East and Middle East. As a hand embroidery artist my works take anywhere from 100 to 300 hours to complete. Given the fineness of the threads I use my works are "large", but I always get the feeling that people want "bigger". I fully appreciate the time spent on your lovely pieces, congratulations.
